Tips for adapting to new living conditions

,

Hi {{contact.first_name}},

Lately, I’ve been hearing more and more people say that life will never be the same again. Indeed, a lot has changed during the pandemic. Many of our daily habits have changed, as well as our emotional state, which is no longer the same. People are tense and worried. My patients often ask how to live on, how to overcome constant anxiety?

My answer is simple: people are able to adapt to new conditions. However, this takes time and effort.

The ability to adapt to new situations or environments is an important phase of human development. But changes, even positive ones, can cause feelings of stress and insecurity.

For some, the discomfort associated with change can feel overwhelming and affect mental health. So it’s important to pay attention to how you feel and know what to do about it.

How to painlessly survive this difficult period?

  • Most importantly, give yourself time.

Expecting you to immediately change and adapt to something new is, to say the least, reckless. Being strict with yourself will only make you feel isolated and stressed. You must realize that over time you will slowly get used to everything new.

  • Be the subject of your life.

In conditions of forced restriction, powerlessness may appear, which is very important to share: you are powerless to globally change the situation, but you can influence your life, home, health, and emotional state. It is in your power to make a feasible plan for at least a day and follow it.

  • Think back to how you have dealt with challenges in the past.

Remember how you did something under stress, put all your strength into it, and then looked back and thought: you should have considered all the options or … you should have given yourself more time.

  • Do not expect what will be like before: in business, in the country, in the economy, in the world.

False expectations and long “goodbyes” only delay periods of apathy and sadness, which in no way contribute to the further development of you as a person, but only negatively affects your health.

  • Learn to lose.

In fact, in the current situation, the loss of material property, money and work is not the worst thing that can happen. Accept it and let go. Now it is important to focus on your health, both physical and mental. If this is lost, it will be much more difficult to recover.

  • Choose the communication and people you need.

  • Explore your inner state

Stop and breathe one on one with yourself, 10 breaths and 10 exhalations, ask yourself: “how am I?”, “what do I want?”. Listen to yourself so as not to drain energy on social networks, monitor the situation, and take hundreds of online courses.

Give yourself more time now to be with yourself, to get over the loss, the uncertainty, the adjustment. If you invest now in yourself and not in anxiety, then the output will be more of you, and not the consequences of timely decisions.

But most importantly, remember that you have the right to experience any emotions!

What do you feel? What are you thinking about? How are you coping with the situation? If you still can’t handle your emotions, don’t miss my next emails. In one of them, you will learn some effective ways to deal with stress and anxiety.
